The first Solidarity Window enabled the construction of 33 houses in Anantapur (India). The houses have been registered in the name of the women of each family, strengthening their social position and ensuring a more secure future for them and their children.
Palexco has made public the fruitful results of its first Solidarity Window held in the city of A Coruña. An initiative that has changed the lives of 33 families in Anantapur, India, providing them with a decent and safe home. A year and a half after its launch in November 2022, this flagship project, in collaboration with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, has successfully culminated with the construction of homes in the community of Kesepalli.
During the inaugural gala, Palexco brought together almost 200 attendees and managed to raise nearly 23,000 euros, thanks to the generous contributions of numerous local companies and event participants. This fund went entirely to the construction of 33 homes that now provide security, hygiene and stability to their beneficiaries.
The homes have been registered in the names of the women in each family, strengthening their social position and ensuring a more secure future for them and their children. In addition, the beneficiary families actively participated in the construction of their homes, fostering a sense of ownership and community. During the process, hygiene workshops were held and the proper use of the new sanitary facilities was promoted to improve the living conditions and health of the community. The Vicente Ferrer Foundation explains that the effective integration of these families into the social fabric has given them access to essential services such as electricity and drinking water.
This initiative has not only provided shelter, but has also laid the foundations for a prosperous future for each of the beneficiaries, in line with Vicente Ferrer’s thinking: “the present always contains the seed of a better future”.
Together with Palexco, we thank all the donors, volunteers, and partners who have made this significant change possible. Your continued support is vital for future Ventanas Solidarias and the ongoing impact on other communities in need.
