The Palace is part of the board of the A Coruña Convention Bureau that was created to promote congresses and MICE events in the city.
Palexco reaffirms its commitment to meeting tourism and will be a fundamental pillar for being the city’s congress center, for its track record and for its great knowledge of the sector.
Palexco will close 2021 with the celebration of 45 MICE events (Anglo-Saxon acronym for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) of which ten will be congresses that will bring together more than 150,000 participants. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the palace has developed a demanding contingency plan to cover all Covid-19 prevention needs so that events, congresses or professional meetings can take place in complete safety. Now, with its integration as a patron of the A Coruña Convention Bureau, Palexco reaffirms its commitment to meeting tourism and will be a fundamental pillar for being the city’s congress center, for its track record and for its great knowledge of the sector.
“We consider that the Convention Bureau is a key tool to position the brand of the city of A Coruña in the professional sphere, both nationally and internationally. Currently A Coruña is quickly recognized for its landscapes and gastronomy, but little known for its offer and professional possibilities, and that is where with the strength of the union we can achieve the goal of brand recognition ”, explains Juana Abellaneda, director of Palexco . In fact, one of the fundamental aspects is the defense of the candidatures, since there are many Spanish and international cities that bet very strongly to bring congresses to their cities, because of the great economic impact that they contribute to the city and because of both make a great effort in the candidacies; subsidizing the venues and trips or providing financial aid or for specific services.
More than 300 events
In the last three years -and taking into account the stoppage caused by the pandemic- Palexco has hosted more than 300 MICE events of which about 10% were congresses, a figure that the palace hopes to increase with its integration into the new entity . In addition, Palexco, with the support of the Tourism Consortium, has carried out on some occasions the task of attracting congresses, which has allowed us to reach these figures. “If we add to these figures the efforts of the companies and organizations that make up the A Coruña Convention Bureau, we are sure that the result will be very beneficial for the city,” said Juana Abellaneda.
